Work is speeding up now on the development of our outdoor learning space on the school field.  We have commissioned CAPCO, the company responsible for designing and building Bewilderwood and many other large adventurous play activity parks around the country.

Through a combination of fundraising by our fantastic PTFA and successful grant applications, we have secured enough money to kick-start the 3 phase project by hopefully completing Phase 1 - the Infant Fort, this summer holidays - which we really didn't think we'd be able to do so soon, so great news!!

The other phases will take longer, depending upon how successful we are with specific grant applications and the continued fundraising of the PTFA and of course, your support! So….. Phase 1, starts at the Children's Centre part of the woodland area - on the mound will be an area focussed more at the younger children, a pathway leading to lots of small pieces of play equipment and den building materials (which our Site Manager will help to construct). Phase 2 will be three tree based platforms, with aerial walk-ways between them, leading to a horizontal climbing wall attached to our outdoor classroom (which our Site Manager is building) and then onto Phase 3 - a low level zip-line - PHEW……. that's a lot AND a lot of money! Each phase is expected to be between £10,000 - £18,000. We cannot spend money from the school budget on this, so many grant forms will need to be filled in!!

I have published the outline plans on the website (under the 'Parents' tab, so you can view them in greater detail there.

We are really excited about this project and we know the children will be too.

There will be a permanent display of the plans in each of the schools and the majority of money raised from activities that you support, will go towards this project. We want to create an area on the school grounds which allow our children to be adventurous (in as safe a way as possible) which we would also hope to open after school, for the community to use - for example, parent supervised sessions until 6.00pm - bring a picnic and enjoy!

If you'd like to find out more details then please don't hesitate to ask.
